Gulf Western Oil V8 Supercar driver Michael Hector has begun the final round of the 2013 Dunlop Series confident of continuing his push up the high quality grid. The team arrived at Sydney’s Olympic Park venue to join his Matt Stone Racing stalemates as part of the three car FG Falcon team.
Although Michael has improved his driving performance at each round, the results have not reflected the improvement after a number of skirmishes and other driver’s indiscretions cost him points.
The opening day of practice saw all 30 runners striving for a set up that would allow the car to flow over the big kerbs of the demanding street circuit. Hector used both 40 minute sessions to gain valuable time on track and work on the set up of the Gulf Western Oil Falcon.
“I am really enjoying it! I feel my driving is getting better and we are getting a lot more pace out of the car. I think we can deliver a good result in the Gulf Western Oil Falcon this weekend. We should be able to crack into the Top 20 in this big field. Once we go to new tyres in Qualifying we should be really able to give it a good shot” Michael said after practice.
Two 17 lap races finish off the 2013 Dunlop Series this weekend at the Sydney NRMA Motoring & Services 500.
